Vacancy of Chairman, ONGC not advertised; will incumbent get second extension?
As the extended term of Arun Kumar Singh coming to an end, the Government of India has not advertised so far the vacancy of Chairman, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) fuelling speculations that he may be given yet another extension?

It is probably for the first time in the history of Petroleum PSUs that a retired CMD was appointed as Chairman of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited.

Arun Kumar Singh was appointed as Chairman, ONGC on December 7, 2022 after retiring from the post of CMD, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) on attaining the age of superannuation. Singh, who donned the mantle for a period of three years till December 6, 2025, was given yet another term for a further period of one year till December 6, 2026, queering the pitches of other aspirants.

As per DoPT guidelines, the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) is required to issue advertisements one year before vacancies.
