It sounds strange that the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), Maharatna, is an exploration and production company, but is engaged in doing different kinds of jobs. It has not been able to explore anything in the last four years. As a result, the production slid into decline.

Besides, it sounds more interesting that the ONGC recently issued an advertisement for the vacancies of geologists and engineers, but it did not advertise the vacancies for geophysicists as the company’s exploration consists of geologists and geophysicists and production consists of engineers viz petroleum, mechanical, chemical etc.

The advertisement is seeking four geologists out of 52. It shows that the ONGC is ignoring exploration, which is a key objective of the company.

Instead of exploration, Chairman & CEO, Arun Kumar Singh is said to be promoting green and renewable energy.

The present Chairman is a marketing man and he has had a good flair for public speaking, but is devoid of experience in production and exploration profile of the company, resulting in the decline of the production and exploration in the last four years, according to reliable sources.
