Ms G Priyanka, District Collector of Ernakulam, has been entrusted with the additional charge of Managing Director, Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL).
The leadership transition comes at an important stage in the development of Kochi’s urban mobility network as KMRL advances key infrastructure initiatives, including preparations for the commissioning of the ₹1,957-crore Kakkanad extension and the proposed future expansion towards the airport.
She succeeds Loknath Behera, who led KMRL since 2021. During his tenure, KMRL achieved several important milestones, including the launch of the Kochi Water Metro in 2023 and improved financial performance.
