Sandeep Sudhakar Paranjape joins as Director (Tech), WCL

Sandeep Sudhakar Paranjape, General Manager, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), has assumed the charge as Director (Technical), Western Coalfields Limited.

A veteran mining professional with over three decades of rich and diverse experience in the coal sector, he has been instrumental in the planning, execution, and management of large-scale opencast and underground coal mining projects.

A Mining Engineering graduate (1991) from Ramdeobaba Kamla Nehru Engineering College, Nagpur University, and a holder of the First Class Mines Manager’s Certificate of Competency issued by DGMS, Paranjpe brings a distinguished career spanning 35 years. He possesses over 16 years of hands-on underground mining experience across various mines of WCL, along with extensive professional expertise in mine planning, project implementation, contract management, land acquisition, and production operations.

Prior to joining WCL as Director (Technical), Paranjape has served in SECL as Area General Manager, Sohagpur Area, one of SECL’s key production unit and subsequently in CMD Secretariat. He has also held the position of Regional Head, Coal Controller’s Organisation (CCO) for the Nagpur and Bilaspur regions, where he acquired extensive experience in coal quality management and mine closure over a period of four years.

Sandeep S. Paranjape’s vast experience in opencast and underground mining, mine planning, and project execution will strengthen WCL’s operational efficiency. His exposure to coal quality, mine closure, contract management, and land acquisition will support regulatory compliance, cost optimization, and sustainable growth, reinforcing WCL’s long-term strategic objectives.
