‘White clad lady’ a hard nut for BJP to crack in Bengal

‘White clad lady’ a hard nut for BJP to crack in Bengal
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is making another forlorn attempt to wrest power from ‘white clad lady’ who is Chief Minister of West Bengal since May 20, 2011.

The BJP, which has been in power at centre since 2014, made all efforts to subjugate the West Bengal, but bit the dust with paving the way for Mamata Benerjee to lead her political party Trinamool Congress (TMC) to a landslide victory in the 2021 West Bengal assembly polls.

The BJP is now laying all efforts to dethrone Mamata from the position of Chief Minister and grab ahold of her in West Bengal in the ensuing Vidhan Sabha elections.

West Bengal Assembly elections are going to be more interesting as BJP's high calibre of wresting power will be judged by voters whether they are swayed by communal flare and polarization in 2026 and keep a lone lady at bay.

Notably, there are only two women serving as Chief Ministers in the country.
