IIM, Mumbai completes Global Online Certification Course
The Indian Institute of Management Mumbai has successfully completed Week 6 of the Global Online Certification Course on “Generative AI for Data-Driven Business Decision-Making, 2026,” led by Prof. David Simchi-Levi (MIT, USA) and Prof. Manoj Tiwari, Director, IIM Mumbai.

Week 6 offered participants an in-depth exploration of Generative AI applications in Supply Chain Management, with a strong focus on demand forecasting, transformer architectures, and data-driven decision intelligence. Participants examined how modern AI models can improve forecasting accuracy by integrating numerical data, textual descriptions, and image embeddings to better predict demand patterns for complex product categories such as fashion retail.

The sessions further introduced key machine learning and deep learning concepts including Regression Trees, Random Forest, Boosting Trees (CatBoost), Transformer Models, embeddings, cosine similarity, and Vision-Language Transformers (ViLT), while also discussing the practical challenges of forecasting in highly dynamic business environments.

A major highlight of the week was an engaging session by Dr. Arindam Chaudhuri, PhD (Computer Science), Senior Member Research Staff at Bayes Labs and a researcher in the business applications of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, on “AI Skills and GenAI Business Models.”

We were equally delighted to host Mr. Abhay Tewari (FIA, FIAI, CFA), MD & CEO and Appointed Actuary at Star Union Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company Limited, whose session brought rich industry perspectives on the practical adoption of AI technologies and their role in driving business transformation across rapidly evolving organizational ecosystems.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all participants, faculty members, and guest speakers for their continued enthusiasm, insightful discussions, and commitment to advancing AI-enabled business innovation.
