Upright Couple of Indian Administrative Service in MP cadre

The sooner the name of Anurag Jain, Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh was announced as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), NITI Aayog, the sooner rumour had it for a while that V L Kanta Rao might succeed Jain as Chief Secretary.
But, the rumour died down at once after ACS Ashok Barnwal of 1991 batch assigned the charge of Chief Secretary.
Both V L Kanta Rao and his wife Neelam Shami Rao belong to the 1992 batch of Madhya Pradesh cadre. This couple of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) is known for being upright in the administrative works.
The couple has been serving on the central deputation since 2020 and presently as Secretaries. Kanta Rao is Secretary in the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti while Neelam Shami Rao is rendering her service as Secretary, Ministry of Textile.
Kanta Rao hails from Andhra Pradesh while Neelam Shami Rao belongs to Uttar Pradesh. Both have served at various important positions both cadre and centre.
