Officials leverage old associations to connive and destroy SAIL?
21,000 T sold to
three FAKE Projects connected to Narindra & Narindra Steel Corp. SAIL might have
lost about Rs 5.0 CR. Who all benefited?
TMT Bars were being sold to the SAIL Distributors
at much higher price than the FAKE PROJECTS. Both the materials were trading in
the same market, posing tremendous difficulty and business risk for the SAIL
Distributors. Although there were voices both internal and external from field
officers and distributors but no ears were given to them. Due to complete
indifference shown by SAIL towards their concerns, some SAIL Distributors
became FAKE PROJECTS in their other firms. As it was a win-win proposition,
SAIL officers happily allowed the same. Those who could not become FAKE
PROJECTS, started sourcing TMT Bars from other FAKE PROJECTS. SAIL was the only loser in the entire game.
The case of Narindra & Narindra Steel Corp is yet another case where the
game has been played in the similar manner.
Narindra & Narindra Steel Corp was in business with SAIL as Dealer & Trader for the
last many years attached to the Kota Branch of SAIL CMO. Three firms namely Shri
Parasnath Construction; Orient Infra & Project
and GR Projects & Engineers, all connected to Narindra & Narindra Steel Corp were
brought in the SAIL system as FAKE Projects during the tenure of M C Agarwal
as Executive Director (Sales & ITD). It may be of significance that Agarwal
belongs to the state of Rajasthan and had also worked at Jaipur Branch of SAIL
CMO during his earlier days of his career in SAIL.
There is another officer named Jacob Chacko who had affiliations
with Narindra & Narindra Steel Corpfirst as Branch Manager of Jaipur Branch
between 2012 to 2014 and then as Regional Business Manager of Western Region in
2019 & 2020. In March 2021 Jacob was promoted
to Chief General Manager and made All-India Head for Long Products at Kolkata
at CMO/HQ and in July 2021, Narindra & Narindra Steel Corp made entry in the
FAKE Project arena through GR Projects& Engineers.
Over 10,500 T has been sold after Atul Mathur became ED (Sales & ITD) i.e. All-India Sales Head in SAIL in July 2023. Since he belongs to Jaipur and has also worked as BM-Jaipur, CGM(LP)/HQ [additional charge] & RM-WR, his influence on supplies to the three FAKE Projects connected to Narindra & Narindra Steel Corp cannot be ruled out.

Here also one finds that out of total supply to above three FAKE Projects of 21,200 T, over 50% i.e. about 12,500 T was sold after the complaint on Venkatesh Infra Projects P Ltd was there with the top management of SAIL. The evillest part is that out of 12,500 T, about 10,000 T was delivered after the order dated Jan 10, 2024 of LOKPAL of India in which scathing remarks were passed against SAIL’s working and directed SAIL to formulate a clear and unambiguous policy with regard to MOU, pricing and relaxation. Another disturbing aspect is that T N Natarajan who is presently occupying the chair of Director(Commercial) of SAIL, in his previous avatar as Regional Manager of Western Region sold over 6,000 T to Shri Parasnath Construction from Indore Branch.

As per our sources the supply from Bhopal CA
Yard attached to Indore Branch of SAIL CMO were
largely consisting of 17 mm Plate Mill Plates which were specially
produced on order for the Kayampur-Sitamau Pressurized Major Irrigation Project in Jawanpura village of Mandsaur district. It has been further gathered that the
project was awarded to Dilip Buildcon Limited.
A D Nandkar was the Branch Manager of Indore
Branch during the above supply and SAIL rewarded him with the post of Regional Business Manager for Long Products of
Western Region.

We have further learnt that the majority of TMT Bars supplied by Prayagraj Branch of SAIL CMO to Shri Parasnath Constructionand GR Projects& Engineers have been sold to Balajee Developers and KEC International Ltd respectively. The same has been allowed by the concerned officials of SAIL by incorporating the name of Balajee Developersand KEC International Ltd in the sales invoices issued to Shri Parasnath Construction.
By now readers must have learnt the complete modus-operandi followed by the SAIL officials in illegally supplying steel to numerous FAKE Projects. Therefore, in the present case of three FAKE Projects namely Shri Parasnath Construction; Orient Infra & Project and GR Projects& Engineers, we are explaining the matter largely through screenshots.
