While bidding permanent adieu to SAIL, its CMD Amerandu Prakash, first ever CMD SAIL who resigned or forced to resign, wished away the corruption in SAIL in a filmy style by quoting the song ‘कुछ तो लोग कहेंगे’ from the film ‘Amar Prem’. It is a different matter that his knowledge in this subject is equally poor when he said that the song is from the film ‘Abhimaan’. May be his own ‘Arrogance’ called ‘Abhimaan’ in Hindi, impulsively came on his lips, the only trait he is known for in SAIL.

Taking some gleam from ‘The Eternal Prakash’ or ‘दी अमरेंदु प्रकाश’, we also use opening lyrics from the song ‘तुम ने पुकारा और हम चले आए’ from the film ‘राजकुमार’ (Rajkumar) for this story.

The way SAIL officials romanticized with Fake Projects outside their jurisdiction, it reminds us of a romantic song ‘दूर रह कर न करो बात, क़रीब आ जाओ’ from the movie ‘अमानत’ (Amaanat)  although the act is ‘अमानत में खयानत’ i.e. ‘Breach of Trust’, which SAIL imposed in them.

Though there are numerous examples in the SAIL PROJECT SCAM where Fake Projects have been called from Raipur, Noida, Gurugram, Delhi, Rewari etc to Durgapur & Kolkata; from Noida, Gurugram & Punjab to Jaipur; from Noida/NCR to Indore; from Kota to Prayagraj, Durgapur, Vizag & Indore; from Vizag to Pune; from Hyderabad to Ludhiana; from Panipat(Haryana) to Bhubaneshwar; from Siliguri to Durgapur; from Dhanbad to Durgapur; from Raipur to Nagpur; from Meerut to Ludhiana; from Delhi to Kanpur; from Indore to Gwalior; from Nagpur to Pune; from Ahmedabad to Baroda; from Ghaziabad to Trichy when an officer from Ghaziabad goes to Trichy as Branch Manager etc. etc. etc. ‘तुम ने पुकारा और हम चले आए’

In today’s story we bring before you a case of a Fake Projects which was called from Mandi Govindgarh to Indore. Among the umpteen available cases, we have deliberately chosen a simple case so that the readers can easily understand the modus-operandi to purposely inflict loss to SAIL. Mahadev Infra takes GSTIN on Nov 21, 2023 and reaches Indore in March 2024 to buy TMT Bars from Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP) and IISCO Steel Plant (ISP) on Direct Dispatch by Road under the Project scheme of SAIL. Yes, you heard it right ‘Direct Dispatch by Road’.

When the TMT Bars are to be procured on Direct Dispatch by Road only and not from Indore warehouse, then why Indore Branch?

Although Bhilai Steel Plant should have been the natural choice due to proximity to Indore but still DSP and ISP were chosen as the TMT Bars were to be shipped to Mandi Govindgarh only.

Let us now come to the most glaring and audacious part of the transaction

The above game was being played when already LOKPAL had ordered CBI investigations in the matter of Venkatesh Infra Projects P Ltd (another Fake Project) and had passed scathing remarks on the function of SAIL in its order dated Jan 10, 2024. The game was being played when following the LOKPAL’s observations in the order, 29 officers had already been suspended on Jan 19, 2024.

Above also applies to both T N Natarajan and Harishankar Durgapal who were Regional Manager and Region Business Manager (Long Products) [RBM(LP)] of Western Region during the supply period. It is also noteworthy that before joining as RBM(LP)-WR, Durgapal was Branch Manager of Ludhiana Branch, the branch hardly 45 minutes away from Mandi Govindgarh.

Nandkar joined SAIL in 1997. Spent his entire career till date in the Western Region except for one tenure as Branch Manager - Mandi Govindgarh from Oct 2013 to Dec 2017.

Before coming to Indore, Mahadev Infra went to Prayagraj Branch and lifted about 100 T of Strls from the Prayagraj warehouse.
